
I typically go for a high-agility, high-wisdom, high-marksmanship, night-ops character. Whoo, free rifle for the early part of the game where they’re scarce. If you have problems starting out with just pistols in your party, hire one of the high level expensive mercs who starts with a rifle for one day, then take his rifle and dismiss him. Then I tack on someone like Grizzly as a strong back. Starting out I like Buns and Grunty and the South-african knife-fighting guy and maybe Meltdown because she’s funny. I hire mostly mercs who also know how to shoot, plus at least one big guy to help carry stuff around.

Strength is important because there is a lot of junk to carry around, and you don’t want to be encumbered. I go with good strength, health (is it con?) and agility and lose the personal ability to heal or blow things up because I can always hire guys for that, and shooting as many accurate shots as possible in a round is the main thing. You want to max out marksmanship (or whatever the stat is called) in your main character. I’m sure the faq/walkthrough has all anyone would ever want, but a few hints:
